Mimi Braniff joined MAD Global Strategy as a Managing Director in January 2026 and is the senior leader in the Washington DC operations.
Previously, Braniff served as Head of Federal Government and Regulatory Affairs for Exxon Mobil Corporation from 2022 to 2025 and was the company’s head of U.S. Policy. At Exxon, she led the company’s team of lobbyists, helped manage two complex mergers and achieved significant policy wins for the company. Braniff has been recognized as a Top Lobbyist by The Hill from 2022 – 2025.
Prior to Exxon, Mimi Braniff held the position of Managing Director, Government Affairs at Delta Air Lines. At Delta, Mimi’s focus included Energy, Environment, Appropriations, Sustainability, and Aviation policy. Mimi played a key role in drafting language included in the Cares Act that ensured the continued viability of the aviation industry.
Prior to working at Delta, Braniff held various positions in both the government and private sector. Her experience includes serving as Special Counsel to the Senate Energy Committee, working for Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK). In this role, Mimi advised the Committee on electricity issues, climate change, cybersecurity, and the impact of EPA regulations on the energy sector.
As Full Committee Counsel to the Senate Appropriations Committee, working for Senator Ted Stevens (R-AK), Mimi developed appropriations legislation; and was responsible for drafting bill text, report language, and amendments. As the Deputy Chief Counsel to the Senate Commerce Committee, for Senator Ted Stevens and Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX), Mimi advised the Committee on a wide range of policy, legislative, and legal matters, including: the CAFE bill; the Consumer Product Safety Bill; FAA Reauthorization; the Rail Safety Bill; the Federal Trade Commission Reauthorization; and bills impacting the telecom industry.
While in the private sector, Mimi Braniff served as the Vice President, Federal Government Affairs for NRG Energy. In this position, Mimi oversaw NRG’s Washington D.C. office and developed NRG’s political strategies on Capitol Hill. She acted as the company’s liaison to Congress and Federal Agencies, analyzed the impact of Congressional bills and Agency Rules on the company; and drafted legislative language to support company initiatives.
Prior to her work in Washington D.C., Mimi practiced law in California and Indiana for over three years, focusing on litigation.
